For almost 20yrs now, photography and traveling have been an important part of my life. As a boy, traveling came in the form
of family vacations and Boy Scout camping trips. Now, I photograph to travel and I travel to photograph. I couldn't do one with out the other.
For me, travel isn't about just going to a particular place-- it is the act of going.
There is poem on the floor of the Providence, RI train station that I think sums up my feeling for travel and photography:
        I travel for travels sake,
The great affair is to move,
For my part, Travel not to go anywhere,
        But to Go
Landscapes are my favorite style of photography. I think it has a lot to do with the fact
that I grow up in a rural community in central Pennsylvania. The landscape of every new place I visit gets contrasted in my mind with
with that of Halifax, Pa. where I grew up.
Now that I live in Boston, I'm photographing the small landscapes in a large city. I have started looking at
shooting buildings in the same way as landscapes. I also find that when I travel on the commuter rail, I find myself gazing out the
window in search of new landscapes to photograph.
As time has passed and the photographs have accumulated, I have started looking at my work and tried to find
ways to improve it. The photos on this site are the ones that I consider to be my best. They all have some meaning and special memories for me.
